Why You Should Always Maintain Your Hair Health, Especially During The Summer

Summer is a time to slow the pace, hit the beach, and live your best life. But although you might be loving the carefree days and lightning-bug-chasing nights, summer can cause a whole lot of damage to your hair. Like the villains in your favorite superhero movies, many elements stand in the way of your hair being soft, shiny, vibrant, and manageable, especially in the summertime. Luckily for you, although more villains are creeping around in summer to wreak havoc on your beautiful head of hair, there is a hero that swoops in to save the day. Neo'Bond is a three-tiered system from FHI Heat that will counteract all that summer can throw at you. Here are some of summer’s more notorious villains:

Bath or Beach Towels

Whether you are leaving the pool or jumping out of the shower, be careful what you reach for to dry your hair off. Cotton towels are harsh for your hair and can cause breakage and frizz. Instead, consider a microfiber towel or a soft t-shirt to dry your locks.

Chlorine/Saltwater

Your hair is especially susceptible to losing shine and becoming brittle because of all of your time in the pool or ocean. The chlorine and saltwater can both leave damage behind. Counteract this by rinsing in fresh water as soon as possible.

Hair Ties

Summer is a great time to get your body moving after the long months of winter, and whether you are running down the beach or sweating it out in your yoga class, hair ties are essential to keep your hair out of your face. Unfortunately, they do cause breakage and can lead to damaged hair.

Sun

Odds are you have spent three seasons dreaming of the summer sun, but now that it is here, UVB and UVA sun rays can damage your hair, causing it to be brittle, frizzy, and cracked. Wearing a hat to cover your mane is an excellent way to protect your hair.

Heat

Summer is also a time to go out on the town and enjoy some great times with great friends. Because you always want to look your best, you need the heat of your dryer and styling tools, but they can cause a lot of damage. To counteract this, try to air dry your hair at least 75% of the way before turning up the heat with a dryer.

Pillowcases

You may have never put much thought into what your pillowcase is doing to your hair, but it can cause some trouble. Not only do cotton pillowcases absorb moisture, causing your hair to dry out, but the friction of rubbing against it can also cause dry, damaged hair and even leave your hair in knots. Try a silk pillowcase for a better night’s sleep. And here’s a pro tip: Bring it with you when you take your summer vacations as most hotels don’t utilize silk sheets.

Chemical Treatments

With the laid-back atmosphere summer brings, it is the perfect time to play and experiment with your hair. But if you are coloring or chemically treating your hair, that will lead to dry hair that is more likely to break, experience split ends, and generally be unhealthy.

Neo'Bond To The Rescue!

No matter which hair villains you are dealing with, you need a superhero to combat all of these problems, and FHI Heat has just the product for you! With our three-tiered Neo'Bond service, you will save your hair from all the elements of summer that can damage it. Neo'Bond uses Bio Shield technology to counter disulfide bonds and protect your hair from damage caused by chemicals, heat, chlorine, and the sun. How does it work? Neo'Bond uses a combination of materials to create smooth, nourished, luxurious hair, even if it has been color-treated. For example, N-acetyl-L-cysteine is an amino acid that works to create new bonds in your hair, while Magnolol/Honokiol helps soften your hair and smooth it out. Morinda Citrifolia protects your hair’s integrity after a chemical treatment.

Neo'Bond is used at the time of your chemical treatment to counteract the chemical’s damaging and breaking tendencies while your hair is being colored. Step 1 is a Bond Replicator, which strengthens the existing bonds in your hair while also creating new ones. Step 2, the Bond Fortifier, crosslinks the bonds and provides nourishment and added hydration. Both of these steps are done in the salon while you are receiving chemical treatments. Step 3 is for home use, a weekly home treatment that helps your hair be more elastic, strong, and shiny. This will take care of your hair between salon visits and make the hair problems of summer more manageable.

Healthy Hair Sidekicks

Just like any superhero, Neo Bond needs a few sidekicks. (Where would Batman be without Robin?)

Here are a few of the best:
Fresh Start Protective Prep and Primer protects your hair when it is time to use heat. With all your time in and out of pools this summer, this primer will be even more critical. The Satin Finish Conditioning Treatment will nourish and condition your hair no matter what summer throws at it. Use it on wet or dry hair, and it will help you tame the frizz and flyaways that summer brings. Silk proteins and silk amino acids join forces in this Liquid Satin Treatment that will leave your hair shiny and frizz-free. Use it in combination with FHI Heat’s other products to create polished, healthy locks.

No matter where your summer takes you, to the pool or the country club or the trails or to your bed to rest before you do it all again, Neo'Bond will be with you every step of the way to nourish and hydrate your hair, leaving it shiny, healthy, and beautiful.

Happy Hairstylist's Appreciation Day

The modern hairstylist has come a long way since the early days of the Renaissance when people first started taking their hair care seriously. Our wonderful modern hairstylists who spread joy and creativity as effortlessly as hairspray have evolved over centuries to be people we trust, people who teach us, and people we confide in. Unbelievably, in the early centuries of hairstyling, all hairstylists were barbers who also doubled as surgeons and priests. As the years have progressed, our stylists have become more like teachers, therapists, and life coaches, who also happen to give us a fabulous cut and color along the way!
