Which Hair Tool Is Right for Your Curls?

There are a lot of hair tools out there, and most of them are built for one kind of hair type. Here is how to tell which kind you have, and which tool will actually work on it.

Hair is sorted into four numbers.

• 1 is straight.
• 2 is wavy.
• 3 is curly.
• 4 is the tightest, coiliest hair.

The letters a, b and c just mean loose, medium or tight within that number - so 3a is a loose curl and 3c is a tight one. Find the picture below that looks most like your hair when it dries on its own.

Type 1 - Straight hair

Type 2 - Wavy hair

Type 3 - Curly hair

Type 4 - Coily hair
