It’s finally the 2021 awards season, and we could all use a dose of fashion, entertainment, and glam! Like the 2020 Emmys, The 2021 Golden Globes were half in-person and half virtual. In fact, the socially-distanced ceremony was hosted by both Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who were actually on opposite sides of the country (New York and LA!).
We were worried we’d miss seeing some of the amazing red carpet looks; however, many of our favorite stars were able to pull off beautiful styles from home, proving that what glitters is often golden. Of course, some stars stole the spotlight. We’ve put together a list of the most gorgeous hairstyles from the 2021 Golden Globes. Here are our top 5 ‘red carpet’ styles!
Anya Taylor-Joy has made it clear that she isn’t playing checkers, she’s playing chess. Her 2021 Golden Globes style was no different. She absolutely nailed the mark with her entire look, from her emerald custom Dior gown to her stunning Tiffany & Co. Jewelry. But we are here to talk about her effortless platinum locks. The icy strands draped longer than we’re used to seeing on the star, with the ends delicately curled. Also, we’re obsessed with her side part!
Pro Tip:To create this look, you are going to need to become one with your Platform Blow Handle-Less Hair Dryer. Use the dryer, rather than an iron, to achieve that fullness that you see Anya rocking. Use a thin ceramic round brush to perfect those ends.
Laverne Cox dazzled us with a braided crown for her 2021 Golden Globes look. Flawlessly executed, the braids gather at the nape of her neck in a manicured knot. It’s trendy and classic all at the same time, which is why it’s one of our favorite looks this year. Not only does it fit Cox’s face structure elegantly, but it also plays with the dimension already created by her gorgeous red gown. Simply stunning!
Julia Garner has been making waves in Hollywood over the last handful of years, but her look at the Golden Globes is making curls. We are used to seeing the beauty with draping ringlets, so it’s a wonderful shock to see them in an updo. We love that her stylist let the pieces on her crown breathe by allowing a few to remain untethered to the rest of her look. The result is absolutely gorgeous. Also... Julia Garner in red lipstick? Yes, please.
Pro Tip:If you’ve been blessed with natural ringlets like Garner, use the cocktailing method when applying product. In other words, layer moisture-locking product (such as coconut oil) with the gel that you will need to style.
Angela Bassett never fails to stun us with her glamorous red carpet looks. This year, she knocked our socks off with her extra-long braided look. Fierce as ever, Basset opted for an alluring purple gown that touted asymmetry, which her hair complemented perfectly. By draping her length down her exposed shoulder, Basset invites our eyes to dance as if we’re looking at a work of art
Lily Collins, the star of the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris, gave us an old-school glam that is très chic. Collins remixes of two vintage styles we love. While her dress pays homage to the vibrant 1980s, her hair is soft and voluminous like a 20s starlet. Her romantic billowing curls work marvelously against her sharp jawline and hypnotizing eyes.
Pro Tip:To get billowing, voluminous curls, you will need a volumizer like the Full Blown Volumizing Mousse. Dry your strands while using this product. Then, grab a medium-barrelled ceramic curler to carefully twist your strands into this beautiful style. Gently brush out the curls with a tangle-free brush.
