New Year, New Do!

New Year, New Do!

Your NYE outfit is undoubtedly spectacular, and now you need the hairstyle to rock with it. Believe it or not, New Year hairstyles require quite a bit of planning and practicality in order to execute it properly. Why? Because New Year's Eve is such a long, fun, dance-filled evening! You may ring in 2020 with a perfect New Year makeout, or perhaps you’ll be cutting up the rug with your friends.

However you celebrate, you know it’s going to be wilder than most nights. For that reason, you’ll need a hairstyle that is chic enough for 2020, easy to move around in, and will remain intact and pristine (even if you start to get a little sloppy). These are the best dance-friendly New Years Eve styles to try this year!

The Lay Low

Are you someone who shines like confetti? Slip into the new year with this slicked back ponytail. While we love a good Ariana Grande high pony, a posh low ponytail is elegant while remaining party-friendly. For this look, you’ll want a Platform TI Sleek Straightener to keep it as smooth as possible. Once straightened, pull your hair back with a hair tie and apply Liquid Satin Smoothing Serum to the end of the ponytail, and Total Control Styling Gel to the scalp to keep the flyaways in place while you dance into 2020!

The Natural Bounce

No hairstyle matches the party scene like bouncy curls. In fact, they pretty much dance on their own! If you’ve already got beautiful curls, this is the look to go with to ring in 2020. Keeping it natural will feel fun and free. Who says that a new year has to mean a new you? However, even a natural style can fall flat during a night of partying. That’s why we recommend amping up your locks with High Altitude Roof Lift Spray and keeping them intact with Stay Beautiful Light Hold Dry Hairspray.

Galaxy Buns

Whether you’re ready for the future, or stuck in the past, Galaxy Buns are a futuristic, yet retro, style. Because you’ll be tying most of your hair into buns, accomplishing this look is extremely easy. All you really need to do is split your hair into a middle part and create a bun on each side. However, this look is not complete without curled front tendrils and a bunch of hairspray. To curl the tendrils, you’ll want a slim curler such as The Platform Bounce Pro Curler ¾”. Once you feel like your style is out of this world, hold it in place with a Finisher.

The Hot Mess

This staple party-girl hairdo never goes out of style for a posh night out. It’s a supermodel’s go-to when it comes to their off-duty model style. Why? Because it appears effortless, and mysteriously smooth while still being messy and chill. This look is no accident, and it’s not as easy as it would seem to achieve. That’s why it requires a bit of assistance to pull it off ‘effortlessly.’ For this look, we first recommend adding body to your hair with a dime-sized drop of Pump It Up Express Blow Out Serum spread out evenly to your hair. Next, pull your hair into a loose ponytail. Use a thin curler to add body to some of the loose strands. Tease, and spray with a Finisher.

The Texture Remix

Everyone loves a good remix. This trendsetting textured look is sure to turn heads (and, texture mixes are rumored to be the new it-style for 2020). If you’ve got bangs, this style is as simple as can be. First, you’ll want to style the majority of your hair with a dryer and a diffuser for some understated beachy waves. The Platform Blow Out Handle-less Hair Dryer, an FHI Heat favorite, comes with an amazing diffuser. Once dry, spray with a light hairspray. When you are ready to move onto the bangs, take a round brush and use it to style and smooth them. That’s it! You’re now ready to lead the pack into the new year.

Ways To Rock A Mask This Memorial Day Weekend

Remember when Memorial Day Weekend came with a whole set of fashion rules? For example, white before this day was strictly prohibited, and nautical was strongly encouraged. However, now that we’ve got bigger fish to fry (like a pandemic), some of the rules have fallen to the wayside. It’s hard to focus on staying trendy when safety calls for gloves and masks.
