Not only do hats keep you warm during the winter months, but they also tie countless looks together and make amazing statement accessories. People love to throw on hats when they’re having bad hair days, but we don’t think hats and bad hair days are mutually exclusive!

There are many chic ways to style your hair to compliment that fantastic hat that’s been sitting in your closet for far too long. The great thing about hat hairstyles is that they are fairly simple. The hat takes care of the majority of the style, leaving just the ends to play with. Here are some of our favorite hat looks so that you can release your inner Jackie O and celebrate this holiday in style.

Braided Pigtails

If you’re in the mood for a boho vibe that is equally stress-free to create, go for some maintenance free pigtails. We love the braided look on this model, but regular pigtails that begin at or below the ears also achieve the look! Loose or tight braids work, but if you like your braids clean, we suggest spraying them with a finisher.

Wavy Tendrils

Tendrils have been all the rage since supermodel Kendall Jenner whipped them out on various red carpets last year. They are a fun homage to the 90s, and look incredibly sexy, effortless, and chic. Curly tendrils give your hair a fullness and movement under a hat, which isn’t an easy feat. We suggest adjusting your hair into a bun or ponytail and curling the tendrils you choose to leave out with a ceramic curler.

Au Natural

You might be shocked to know that your natural hairstyle is in fact a style ! The beautiful thing about hats is that they make ‘sloppy’ hair look intentional and trendy. You don’t have to be totally natural if your hair bothers you. Before putting on the hat, tame your wild strands with a drop of smoothing serum.
